The Ten Promised Paradise

These ten Companions were explicitly named by the Prophet ﷺ in a single hadith as people of Jannah.

عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي الجَنَّةِ، وَعُمَرُ فِي الجَنَّةِ، وَعُثْمَانُ فِي الجَنَّةِ، وَعَلِيٌّ فِي الجَنَّةِ، وَطَلْحَةُ فِي الجَنَّةِ، وَالزُّبَيْرُ فِي الجَنَّةِ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ فِي الجَنَّةِ، وَسَعْدٌ فِي الجَنَّةِ، وَسَعِيدٌ فِي الجَنَّةِ، وَأَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الجَرَّاحِ فِي الجَنَّةِ

Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Abu Bakr is in Paradise, Umar is in Paradise, Uthman is in Paradise, Ali is in Paradise, Talha is in Paradise, al-Zubayr is in Paradise, Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf is in Paradise, Sa'd is in Paradise, Sa'id is in Paradise, and Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah is in Paradise."

Closest companion and father-in-law of the Prophet ﷺ. First adult male to accept Islam. Accompanied the Prophet ﷺ in the Hijrah. Led the Ummah as the first Caliph after the Prophet's ﷺ passing.

Renowned for justice, strength, and simplicity. His acceptance of Islam was a turning point for the early Muslims. Expanded the Islamic state across Persia and Byzantium in just 10 years.

Known for extraordinary generosity and modesty. Married two daughters of the Prophet ﷺ. His greatest legacy — the Uthmani Mushaf — is the standardized Quran still used by every Muslim today.

Among the earliest converts to Islam. At Uhud he shielded the Prophet ﷺ with his own body, losing the use of his hand permanently. Renowned across Arabia for his extraordinary generosity.

Cousin of the Prophet ﷺ and one of the earliest Muslims. The Prophet ﷺ called him his "disciple." A fierce warrior who participated in nearly every major battle of early Islam.

💰 Al-Jawwad — The Most Generous

📅 580 – 652 CE 📍 Makkah Tribe: Zuhrah

One of the wealthiest Companions, yet among the most generous. Migrated to Madinah with nothing and rebuilt his fortune quickly. Donated enormous wealth — horses, camels, and gold — in the way of Allah.

The first person to shoot an arrow in the path of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ honored him by saying "May my father and mother be your ransom" — a distinction given to very few companions.

One of the earliest Muslims, accepting Islam even before the Prophet ﷺ entered Dar al-Arqam. Brother-in-law of Umar RA. Participated in almost all major battles alongside the Prophet ﷺ.

The Prophet ﷺ called him "the trustee of this Ummah." Known for remarkable humility, trustworthiness, and selflessness. Commanded the Muslim armies in Syria. Died in the Amwas plague as a martyr.
